Stairs at last

It's been a week since I posted! The delay is partly because I was quite busy, but also because the progress has not seemed quite as dramatic. It looked like like the wall demolition was imminent last week, but we are still waiting on that. The stairs are, however, finally finished, which means I don't need a pole vault to get up to the deck. The windows are also in, and we are just waiting on the door before the space will be enclosed and the wall can come down.

Today they finished the railing around the deck and put siding on the new outer wall. They are re-using the old siding, which I did not expect, but I can't really complain if I am going to "walk the walk" on the importance of reducing the use of virgin materials. Plus, this way the siding blends in with the rest of the house and our neighbors unit.

The addition looks like it's coming along nicely. At least you'll be all enclosed before the weather turns. I'm sure Tatiana will be in for a nice surprise when she gets back from her trip. Good luck keeping the house dust-free once they tear down the wall. :)

I'll let you know if we need dust masks after we get home tonight . . the wall is down - I just spoke with the contractor.
